I started my journey with IT in
2009 when I started studies on Gdańsk University of Technology. After 2 years
of learning how IT works I started working for money. First it was a freelancer
work, but then I got hired to company and this is where I started my career. After
working in several companies I found that I should try freelancing again. I am
tired of war politics that occur in companies. In firms there was always a
problem with hardware I was working on. The most of the time PCs where old and
too slow for fast delivering features. Another thing is that working as a
freelancer saves me a lot of time on traveling. I don’t have to go to the
office each day.
I still remember when I was
starting as a freelancer it was hard to get any job, and if you got one it was
low paid and client was very demanding. Right now I’m in the same place when I was
in the past, the difference is that I’m more valuable for clients as I have
more experience.
Toptal is a different approach that
other freelancer websites offer. They invite everybody to access database with
offers, so that there is always a war between who is going to do it for the
least amount of money. I see that Toptal have a filter that only best 3%
candidates over the world have access to job offers. It’s really appealing to
know that if I will be in that 3% then I won’t have to waste time searching for
good projects that are well paid. Also I will be able to work with professionals
and this is what I’m looking for.
